چکیده

This paper focused on the stone matrix asphalt (SMA) technology that was developed essentially to guard against rutting distress. For this procedure, fibers play a racy role in stabilizing and preventing drain down problem caused by necessity of high binder content coupled with their strengthening effect. A set specimens cylindrical slab shapes were fabricated inclusions jute, polyester, carbon fibers. each type, three contents 0.25%, 0.5%, 0.75% weight mixture added lengths 5, 7.5, 10 mm. The prepared mixtures tested gain essential pertained parameters discriminated values down, Marshall quotient, rut depth, dynamic stability. It has appeared rate 0.5% 7.5 mm length is much appropriate yield best performance modified mixtures. At these values, recorded highest increase level resistance stability 53% 100%, respectively while, jute exhibited lowest improvement only 34% 63%, respectively; nevertheless, they produced having value. Regarding index plastic stiffness, polyester embedded occupied first rank increasing 38%.

Effect of Fibers on Mixture Design of Stone Matrix Asphalt

Lignin fibers typically influence the mixture performance of stone matrix asphalt (SMA), such as strength, stability, durability, noise level, rutting resistance, fatigue life, and water sensitivity. However, limited studies were conducted to analyze the influence of fibers on the percent voids in mineral aggregate in bituminous mixture (VMA) during the mixture design. This study analyzed the e...

Investigating the Effects of Nanoclay and Nylon Fibers on the Mechanical Properties of Asphalt Concrete

This paper describes the effects of reinforcement by randomly distributed nylon fibers and addition of nanoclay on some engineering properties of a typical asphalt concrete. The properties of asphalt concrete reinforced by different percentages of 25 mm nylon fibers have been compared with those of the mixtures containing different percentages of nanoclay and those in which both the fibers and ...

Investigating the Properties of Asphalt Concrete Containing Glass Fibers and Nanoclay

The performance of asphaltic pavements during their service life is highly dependent on the mechanical properties of the asphaltic layers. Therefore, in order to extend their service life, scientists and engineers are constantly trying to improve the mechanical properties of the asphaltic mixtures. One common method of improving the performance of asphaltic mixtures is using different types of ...

Flexural Behavior of Cementitious Composites Reinforced by Synthetic Fibers

The application of fibers to reinforce cementitious materials is a well-known subject. At first, asbestos fibers are used in industrial process to produce fiber reinforced cement sheets. Thereafter, various types of synthetic fibers are produced and used as asbestos substitutes. The aim of the present work is to evaluate the effect of synthetic fibers on the flexural behavior of cementitious co...
